On 23 September 2019 IHG announced that it was entering into a partnership with “Mr & Mrs Smith” which would allow IHG Rewards Club members to earn and burn points at 500+ more properties around the world. With Mr & Mrs Smith offering a significant number of upscale boutique hotels this was huge news for fans of IHG Rewards but up until now, there have been no further updates from IHG.
A the time of the original announcement IHG suggested that we would see Mr & Mrs Smith properties added to its website from early 2020 but the pandemic put all plans on hold and it’s only now that we’re starting to see some progress.
For anyone who hasn’t heard of Mr & Mrs Smith, it’s a brand that was started up by a British couple in 2003 who have since grown their idea of a website that curates some of the finest boutique properties in the world into a “global travel club” that covers over 1,300 hotels and 300 villas worldwide.
Head For Points has now reported that IHG started to add Mr & Mrs Smith properties to its website yesterday (6 October) but only a handful of hotels are currently appearing in search results as IHG works to ensure that the integration is working smoothly.
I’ve managed to find a few of the properties that IHG has added so far…
…but I have yet to find one that’s actually bookable (with points or with cash).
Apparently, this is to be expected as IHG’s IT team does whatever work is needed to get everything working smoothly and, over the next few days, we can expect to see properties appearing and disappearing and availability appearing and disappearing before the first large batch of properties is added.
IHG has said that it aims to have up to 100 Mr & Mrs Smith properties up and running on its website by the end of the month and over 400 properties bookable by the end of November.

Bottom Line
IHG has started to add various Mr & Mrs Smith properties to its website and we should soon have up to 100 new properties to choose from when searching IHG.com with yet more properties coming online in November. Pricing doesn’t appear to have been loaded yet but I’d expect to see award nights at a significant number of Mr & Mrs Smith properties costing the maximum that IHG charges – 70,000 points – so bargains may not be particularly easy to find.
