IHG, the international hotel group that owns hotels chains like Crowne Plaza, InterContinental and Holiday Inn, has launched a 72-hour UK sale which lasts until 9am GMT on Sunday 8 November 2015 .
The sale is valid for stays between 1 December 2015 and 29 February 2015 and is only open to IHG Rewards Members. If you’re not a member you can sign up for free here.
The website for the sale splits the rooms into 4 price categories:
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first – the one and only InterContinental property that IHG has in the UK (London – Park Lane) is not in the sale.
Moving on…
There are a good number of Airport hotels to be found in the cheaper brackets like the Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport (£39), HIX Heathrow T5 (£39), HIX Stansted (£39), and the Crowne Plaza Gatwick (£49) which, wile not begin stunning deals, could well be very useful for anyone looking fly this winter.
There are also a good number of London properties that have made it into the sale and, while you’ll find the better ones in the £89 bracket, the Crowne Plaza London – The City. should be excellent value at that price.
The Terms and Conditions (found on the sale website) don’t appear to show any onerous constraints so there don’t appear to be any big pitfalls to avoid.
It’s worth noting that breakfast is included in the price for all Holiday Inn Express hotels while, at the other IHG chains, breakfast is £10 per room – which is excellent value.
Airport Parking
If you’re considering booking one of the IHG airport hotels and if you’re planning to drive, it’s worth remembering that IHG has a little-known “Park, Stay & Go” deal that may be useful.
You won’t be able to book this deal through the Sale Website, you’ll have to use the link I’ve provided above but you should still be able to save quite a bit on airport parking.
Take the Crowne Plaza Heathrow as an example:
In the sale, a single night in a standard room will cost £49and will not include any parking.
But, if you use the Park, Stay & Go site, you can book the same hotel for a 1 night stay with up to 8 days of parking for as little as £99 (depending on your dates). That could mean that you’re getting Heathrow parking for just £6.25/day!
