Hyatt has opened a new hotel in the Greek Islands (Category 6)

Hyatt has opened the Parian Chronicle Hotel Paros, the Destination by Hyatt brand’s first property on a Greek island and its second in Greece overall. The hotel is bookable now with both cash and points, although it looks like the property is still loading inventory.

The details

Parian Chronicle sits in Kampos, a small village on the island of Paros. Paros Airport (PAS) is a short drive away, and Parikia, the island’s main port, is around 8km/5 miles from the property.

There are 50 rooms and suites in total, all newly built, ranging in size from 30 sqm/323 sqft to 42 sqm/452 sqft.

Impressively, we’re told that 39 of the 50 rooms come with a private pool while the remaining 11 offer an outdoor jacuzzi instead.

The property’s interiors follow the kind of design we expect to see in the Greek Islands – whitewash, stone, wood, linen, and “warm earth tones”.

It should be noted that all the image we have appear to be renderings rather than real-life pictures, so you should take these as guides and not definitive images of the property.

Another key thing to note is that this property is for guests aged 13 and above only, so this isn’t a destination for families.

Only one restaurant is mentioned in the press release, but the hotel’s website suggests that there are actually two.

Aniyo is the less formal of the two options, it focuses on local ingredients and dishes and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and early evening dining between 08:00 and 19:00.

NAAO is the property’s signature restaurant which is open daily between 19:00 and 00:00 and which seems to offer a more formal dining format while still focusing on local ingredients and cooking techniques.

Here’s exactly how it’s described by the hotel:

“A sunset-led social dining venue where Cycladic ingredients and techniques (curing, sun-drying, grilling) , minimalist serving, anchored by local wines and a signature cocktail program curated through a bar-synergy.”

Translations in the comments section would be appreciated as I don’t know what half of that means and, personally, I would focu on eating out as often as possible as the surrounding towns and villages are likely to offer some great dining options.

Lastly, we should probably mention the “Wellness Area”. This is a 120 sqm/1,292 sqft spa (Nipson Spa) which encompases a fitness centre, two single-sex saunas, a double treatment room, and a separate outdoor pool. This sounds small, so booking treatments before you arrive may be a good idea if you want to avoid disappointment.

What’s bookable

Parian Chronicle has joined World of Hyatt as a Category 6 property, which puts it in the 20,000 to 40,000 points/night range under the current award chart.

Unfortunately, the property’s award availability calendar doesn’t yet appear to have been uploaded to the Hyatt website, so, currently, we can’t easily see what overall availability looks like or how much most awards are priced at.

Of the dates I checked in July, August, and September, where an award booking was actually available at all, the rate was 30,000 points/night every time, none of the lower or higher season tiers showed up.

It also doesn’t look like award nights have been loaded for 2027 at all yet, so anyone hoping to plan a points stay for next year will probably have to wait a little longer.

The story isn’t much better when it comes to the cash rates. A lot of nights currently don’t show any availability at all, and 2027 doesn’t appear to be loaded on the cash side either.

Of the dates that are bookable, the current price range for an entry-level room, including taxes, looks to be between €480 and €510 ($547 to $581) a night.

That’s likely to rise once the hotel is more established and isn’t still in its first few months post-opening, so I wouldn’t treat this as the long-term rate.

At 30,000 points against a cash rate in that range, the return works out to between 1.82 and 1.93 cents per point used. That’s quite good given the recent award chart shake up that has a lot of people valuing Hyatt points at much less than that.

Given how new this property is and given the fact that we believe Hyatt is deliberately not going to crazy with it new award pricing just yet, I suggest treating the 30,000 points/night and the €480 to €510 cash range as a starting point. I suspect that both award and cash costs will look higher in a year’s time.

Final thoughts

A few things to note before you book.

Firstly, don’t forget this property’s age policy. Gusts must be 13 or older with no exceptions.

Secondly, if you’re super-keen to have a small private pool, make sure you’re careful which room you book as 11 of the rooms don’t have a private pool.

Thirdly, be aware that this isn’t a beach resort and that while we believe there is a hotel pool, we haven’t been told anything about it, there don’t appear to be any images of it and the hotel doesn’t mention it anywhere on its site, so don’t book with the exception that the facilities here will be similar to those of a big resort – this property has just 50 rooms so I would expect a compact property that has more of a boutique feel to it.

Bottom line

Parian Chronicle Hotel Paros is open, with 50 rooms and suites (39 with private pools), two restaurants, and a small spa.

It’s a Category 6 World of Hyatt property, but the award calendar isn’t fully loaded yet, with the dates I checked in July through September pricing consistently at 30,000 points/night and nothing showing for 2027.

Cash rates currently look to sit between €480 and €510 ($547 to $581) a night, including taxes, for an entry-level room, though a lot of dates aren’t showing availability yet and this will likely rise once the hotel is past its opening period.
