This post is going to be short and sweet. Hotels.com has launched its Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals for 2022 and the sale is offering a minimum of 30% off the regular rates.

Let’s get a key thing out of the way before I continue: If you’re deeply immersed in the miles and points world, Hotels.com sales are probably not for you.

Hotels.com bookings count as third-party bookings and so, generally speaking, guests will not earn any points in a property’s loyalty program and will not have any elite status benefits honored (benefits that they would be entitled to if they booked directly with the hotel).

That being said, most people should probably pay more attention to Hotels.com (and its rewards program) than they pay to programs run by the big hotel chains and that’s why this sale shouldn’t be ignored.

Unlike all the other Black Friday/Cyber Mondy deals that I’ve written about, this one doesn’t appear to have a landing page with detailed terms and conditions, the deals are just there for all to see on the Hotels.com site.

The only key term that I’ve spotted so far is the one that says that the sale will run through 28 November.

On the whole, I’ve seen a few deals that are better than I expected them to be and I’ve  noticed a few deals on Hotels.com that appear to be better than the deals being offered by the big chains.

Here, for example, is Marriott.com charging $194/night for an entry-level room at the Westin New York Grand Central…

…and here’s Hotels.com charging $169/night for the same room, on the same dates, with a similarly inflexible cancellation policy.

Of course, this may be a good example of when a Best Rate Guarantee claim may work with Marriott, but considering how adept Marriott is at wriggling out of honoring its best rate guarantee, I wouldn’t be confident of this.

The important thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need to do your research if you’re to make sure that you get a decent deal.

Don’t assume that what you see on Hotels.com is the best deal that you’ll find and definitely don’t assume that the rates the big hotel chains are offering are the lowest around. They may not be. Check all relevant sites before making a booking.

Bottom line

The Hotels.com Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale is now in progress and savings of at least 30% are being offered site wide.
