The Star Alliance airlines are doing a pretty good job of posting attractive Business Class fares for travel from Europe right now and I’ve just noticed another good fare that’s available for travel between Prague and Beijing.

LOT Polish is offering roundtrip Business Class fares between Prague and Beijing from just $1,789 roundtrip and, with the airline operating the long-haul sector of this route with its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, this is a fare worth a closer look.

The Fare Rules

  • Reservations must be made at least 3 days before departure
  • Minimum stay is 3 days
  • Maximum stay is 12 months
  • 2 free stopovers are allowed (1 in each direction)
  • Children ages 2-11 are charged 75% of the fare but must be accompanied by an adult in the same cabin.

There doesn’t appear to be an end date or a “must buy by” date attached to this fare so it may be around for some time or it may disappear at any moment.

Availability

Availability for this fare is fantastic as you’ll struggle to find too many dates between mid-December and the end of the bookable period where the fare is not available.

This is what December availability looks like:

And by January the fare is available on most days:

For completeness, here’s what June looks like….

The Flights

You’ll need to be careful and make sure you avoid any unnecessarily long layovers as some dates require an overnight in Warsaw. Mostly, however, it’s pretty easy to book short-ish layovers in Warsaw….

….and, if you want to be sure you’re only shown fares which don’t involve hour upon hour in an airport lounge, I suggest using the following search parameters if you’re using the Matrix search facility:

If you’re having trouble finding dates that work for you with the parameters above try increasing the “maxdur” command to 17:00 or 18:00 – that should help.

For those of you not used to dealing with the Matrix search facility Google Flights is at hand to help you out – the fares are very easy to find but, once again, be careful not to accidentally book a long layover.

LOT 787 Business Class

This is the cabin you’ll be booking for the long-haul portions of this itinerary:

LOT Polish Airlines

The seats are set out in a 2-2-2 layout so the cabin doesn’t offer all-aisle-access but, on a positive note, the seats are reportedly very comfortable and there is plenty of room for a passenger’s feet making it relatively easy to get some rest regardless of your preferred sleeping position.

Crediting The Flights

As LOT Polish is a member of the Star Alliance these flights can be credited to all the usual suspects (Lufthansa, United etc…) and you should use the wheretocredit.com tool to figure out what loyalty program works best for you.

These LOT Business Class fares book into fare code “F” so I would be tempted to credit the flights to Miles & More where they’ll earn miles at a rate of 150% of the distance traveled.

Bottom Line

A very good fare on a reasonable airline in a pretty good cabin is probably the best way to sum up this fare…and if you haven’t visited Beijing this could be the fare to get you there in reasonable comfort.
