UPDATE 16 September 2016: The promotion has been pulled – it lasted no more than 24 hours! The promotion page now shows this message:

Due to the unexpected popularity of the Hilton free night offer, hotel inventory subject to this offer booked up much sooner than anticipated and is no longer available. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that the $75 USD gift card promotion is still available at Participating Hilton Hotels, see the offer page for more information.

Travelers who hold a Visa Signature or Visa Infinite Credit card can take advantage of a nice offer from Visa Signature’s Luxury Hotel Collection which gives you a free night at one of 50 participating Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and Curio properties when you book a stay of 2 nights or more.

Visa Signature Luxury Collection Benefits

The Visa Signature Luxury Collection is very similar in a lot of ways to Amex’s better known “Fine Hotels & Resorts” so it comes with some additional benefits:

  • Best available rate guarantee
  • Automatic room upgrade upon arrival, when available
  • Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi, when available
  • Complimentary continental breakfast daily
  • $25 USD food or beverage credit
  • VIP Guest status
  • 3PM check-out upon request, when available

I have absolutely no idea what “VIP Guest status” is or what it means but I suspect it’s not that much – if it was particularly good it would be spelled out in detail!

Still, some of the other benefits are well worth having – especially the complimentary breakfast (a big money saver at top-end, and therefore expensive, hotels) and the 3pm checkout which is great if you have an evening flight.

I haven’t yet booked a stay though the Visa Luxury Collection so I haven’t had the opportunity to try out their best rate guarantee but it’s definitely worth checking it out and may even make this promotion that much cheaper.

Elite Benefits & Points Earning

Just like the Amex FHR program, stays booked through the Visa Signature Luxury Collection will earn the following:

  • Stay/night credit towards elite status qualification
  • Points in the hotel’s rewards program

Elite status holders should also receive all the benefits that normally comes with their hotel status.

An Added Bonus

The Visa Signature Luxury Collection is running a second promotion that may well stack with this one (it’s advertised on the same page) and will save you even more cash.

Per the promotion’s T&C’s:

For a limited time, enjoy a $75 USD Visa gift card when you book a stay at participating Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts™, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, and Curio – A Collection by Hilton™ through the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection.

Book by November 30th, 2016 for stays through February 28th, 2017 and a gift card will be mailed to you after you’ve completed your stay.

I’m not 100% sure that these two offers will stack as there is the usual clause in the t&c’s for the free night promotion that say that offers can’t be combined…but I think there’s a good chance that they will.

Bottom Line

If you’re thinking of making the most of this promotion don’t forget to sign up for the Hilton Double Up promotion which runs through to 31 December 2016 and you’ll give your Hilton HHonors balance a nice boost too.

I’ve got a trip to Japan early next year so I’m considering using this promotion to try out the Conrad Tokyo but I’m going to have a look around at other prices first before deciding if this is the best option.

Don’t forget that promotions like these are great value only if you end up spending less cash on a trip than you were originally intending to – Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties aren’t cheap and you can still find yourself parting with a lot of cash even if you’re getting one night free….so just be careful.

    • The deal at the Conrad Tokyo wasn’t enticing enough so I didn’t book. Looks like I’ll be trying out the Grand Hyatt and the Andaz instead….judging from your screen name I’m guessing you’ll approve 🙂
