Southwest Rapid Rewards has announced a quick-fire promotion in which it’s offering all members a 20% saving on awards booked by 25 March for travel through 30 April 2021. As the value of Rapid Rewards is more or less fixed and as points can be used if a cash fare is available, this could be a great time to use some points.
Southwest Award Promotion
- Book a flight with Rapid Rewards through 25 March 2021
- Fly through 30 April 2021
- Use promo code SAVENOW when booking
- Receive 20% off all bookings (domestic and international) on Southwest.com or swabiz.com.
Quick Thoughts
Southwest Rapid Rewards Points are unlike most other airline currencies as they offer fixed value (more or less) and can be used wherever a cash fare is on offer. This means that, ordinarily, while you don’t have to go hunting for award availability, it’s not possible to get outsized value out a Rapid Rewards balance.
In this sale, however, Southwest is effectively boosting the fixed value of Rapid Rewards points by reducing the number of points needed to make a booking.
What makes this sale even better is the fact that Southwest Rapid Rewards bookings are fully flexible so you can make an award booking and then cancel it at a later date (if it turns out that you don’t need it) with no penalty incurred – the points get deposited back into a member’s account). That makes this a great opportunity to make a few speculative reservations if your plans are yet to be firmed up.

Southwest awards for travel through 30 April can currently be booked for 20% fewer points than are normally required but with the sale only running until the end of tomorrow, you don’t have much time to make some plans.
