Last week I highlighted a number of Iberia Business Class fares that are available for travel between the United States and Spain into 2022, but while those deals were pretty good, a new offer recently announced by Iberia just made those deals considerably better.
Fare Recap
The good roundtrip Business Class deals that I highlighted last week were as follows:
- Chicago – Madrid from $1,845
- Miami – Madrid from $1,961
- San Francisco – Madrid from $1,961
Since then, I’ve also seen the following:
- Boston – Madrid from $1,877
- New York (JFK) – Madrid – from $1,845
On their own, those are pretty good deals for non-stop travel between the US and Europe, but here’s how you can make them a lot cheaper.
Use Iberia’s Gift Card Sale For Amazing Deals
Right now, Iberia is running a promotion in which it’s selling gift cards with a 25% discount, and there doesn’t appear to be a cap on the value of the gift cards that you can purchase and there’s nothing in the limited terms and conditions to suggest that gift cards can only be used for travel originating in Spain (the fact that the gift cards are on sale in Dollars, Euros and British Pounds would appear to indicate that they can be used on all Iberia operated routes regardless of origin).
What this means is that if, for example, you’d like to book the great Chicago – Madrid Business Class fare that’s currently pricing up at $1,845…
…you can buy a gift card with a value of $1,845 for just $1,383.75…
…and then use that gift card to book the fare.
The gift card sale only runs to 19 March 2021, the gift cards are only valid for one year from the date of purchase, and the gift cards can only be used to purchase flights operated by Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum, but if you’re considering booking any of the great Iberia fares that are available right now, none of those constraints should make any difference.
With a 25% discount, this is what the fares mentioned earlier will now cost:
- Boston – Madrid from $1,408
- Chicago – Madrid from $1,384
- Miami – Madrid from $1,471
- New York (JFK) – Madrid – from $1,384
- San Francisco – Madrid from $1,471
All the fares shown in this post are available on Iberia.com and are for travel on flights operated by Iberia so they’re itineraries that should be bookable with the gift cards in this sale.
Use The Best Credit Card
There’s nothing on the gift card page or the payment page to suggest that the sale of gift cards isn’t processed by Iberia so if that’s the case (and I can’t be 100% sure as I haven’t bought an Iberia gift card before), the Platinum Card (review) will be one of the best cards to use here as it offers cardholders 5 points/dollar on purchases made directly with airlines.
I’d choose the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card as the second-best option because it offers a good earning rate (3 points/dollar) and would allow me to earn Ultimate Rewards Points (one of my preferred currencies), but holders of the Citi Prestige Card may prefer to earn the 5 points/dollar that their card offers.
Bottom Line
Iberia is currently offering some very good Business Class fares for non-stop travel between various cities in the US and Madrid. Thanks to a gift card sale that running to 19 March, these fares can now be booked with an added discount of 25% meaning that those Business Class fares now start at around $1,384.

We really appreciate the HT. This is a great bit of added analysis too – I love a deal stack!
This is the kind of content I need! EVen works for new years!
