This week saw American Express launch a new offer in which targeted cardholders can earn up to 2,500 bonus Membership Rewards Points for Uber spending made by the end of the year.
A little strangely, I noticed that I had been targeted for this offer on Monday, but when I went to register for it on Tuesday (yesterday), it had disappeared. Now (Wednesday), the offer has reappeared and I’ve successfully registered for it.
Moral: If you didn’t appear to have been targeted for this before today, check your accounts again.

Quick thoughts
I’m only seeing this offer targeted to the Platinum Card® from American Express but YMMV. Other cards may have been targeted too.
When using this offer, don’t forget that the Uber /Uber Eats spending needs to go on to the targeted card for the offer to trigger so make sure that you set your default payment card carefully in your Uber account to avoid accidentally missing out on some easy points.
Also, if you’re loading this offer to a Amex Platinum Card, keep in mind that you’ll either have to use up December’s $35 Uber credit (before you can trigger this offer), or you need to make sure that you’re not paying for your Uber spending with your Uber Cash balance.
Bottom line
Amex is currently targeting select cardholders for an offer that allows them to earn up to 2,500 bonus Membership Rewards points when paying for Uber trip or ordering takeout via Uber Eats. The promotion is only valid for spending made by the end of the year, but with the holidays only a little over a week away, this should still be a relatively easy way to pick up some useful Membership Rewards points.
