Radisson is the latest of the major hotel chains to announce its end of year promotion and this time around the hotelier is offering double points and double elite night credits on all qualifying stays through 29 December 2019…but there’s a catch.
A combination of double points and double elite night credits sounds like a very nice way to end the year but unfortunately Radisson had to go an ruin things by adding a couple of conditions that are more than a little anti-social – all bookings have to be made by 26 September 2019 if they are to qualify for this deal and all existing bookings are excluded.
Yes, you read that right.
Not only do Radisson rewards members have to register to participate in this promotion (link) but any existing reservations will have to be canceled and re-booked if they are to qualify (that’s assuming they can be cancelled without penalty and assuming prices haven’t gone up since the booking was made) and all bookings have to be made within the next 8-9 days if they’re to earn the bonuses.
What a horrible set of clauses!
If you can actually work within the highly restrictive parameters that Radisson has set there’s definitely some value to be had here but I cannot understand why Radisson has felt the need to be so restrictive in its latest promotion.
Hopefully the double elite nights offer speaks for itself (although be aware that only 5 bonus nights can be earned per stay) so, ignoring that, here’s what Radisson Rewards guests can expect to earn in this promotion based on the status they hold:
- No Status – 40 points/dollar
- Silver Status – 42 points/dollar
- Gold Status – 45 points/dollar
- Platinum Status – 55 points per dollar
I value Radisson rewards points at 0.3 cents each so that means that the effective rebate being offered here ranges between 12% (no status) and 16.5% (Platinum status).
With Silver status coming as a benefit of the free Radisson Rewards Visa card and Gold staus coming as a benefit of the $75/year Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature card it’s probably a safe bet to say that most readers who want to make the most of this promotion will have some form of Radisson status so a minimum rebate of 12.6% isn’t bad going.
Bottom Line
I genuinely hate how Radisson has structured this promotion as although I can just about understand why existing bookings are excluded (the hotelier wants to encourage new bookings), I cannot understand why the requirement to have all bookings made by 29 September has been added in – it seems like an unnecessary constraint to put on potential customers and it effectively means that the Radisson end of year promotion will have no effect on occupancy rates after that cut-off date.
Hopefully some readers will be able to make the most of this promotion but I for one will be giving it a wide berth – there’s very little incentive for me to get involved so I’ll keep sending my business elsewhere.

By registering for and participating in the “Earn Twice” promotion (“Promotion”), you acknowledge, and you agree to these Terms and Conditions. To be eligible for the Promotion, Radisson Rewards Members must register for the Promotion and book September 16, 2019 through September 26, 2019. Eligible Radisson Rewards Members (“Members”) will earn an additional twenty (20) Radisson Rewards Points (“Bonus Points”) per U.S. dollar spent on Eligible Stays. Members will also earn double the number of Eligible Nights and Eligible Stays that will contribute to that Member’s Elite Status (Silver, Gold, or Platinum) when completing an Eligible Stay. All Eligible Stays must be booked September 16, 2019 through September 26, 2019 (“Promotion Booking Period”) and consumed September 26, 2019 through December 29, 2019 (“Promotion Stay Period”) to earn (collectively, “Promotion Period”). Pre-existing reservations for stays during the Promotion Stay Period are not eligible. Members can earn towards the Promotion at all Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson hotels worldwide (collectively, “Participating Properties”).
To be eligible for the Promotion, you must (i) be a Radisson Rewards Member; (ii) register for the Promotion online (“Eligible Member”); (iii) book all Eligible Stays during the Promotion Booking Period; (iv) complete all Eligible Stays during the Promotion Stay Period.
An “Eligible Stay(s)” means one or more consecutive Eligible Nights at the same Participating Property, regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur during that stay. An “Eligible Night(s)” means a night at a Participating Property that is booked at an Eligible Rate, identified in the Participating Property’s reservation system as eligible to earn Radisson Rewards Points (“Points”). Stays or Nights paid for by using Points or Points + Cash are not eligible for the Promotion. Stays and Nights booked using an ineligible booking source such as an Online Travel Agent (sometimes referred to as “OTA”) are not eligible.
Promotion Earning
For each U.S. dollar spent on Eligible Stays completed during the Promotion Period, Eligible Members will receive an additional (base) twenty (20) Bonus Points. For each Eligible Stay completed during the Promotion Period, Eligible Members will receive one (1) additional Eligible Stay (“Bonus Eligible Stay”) to contribute to earning the Member’s Elite Status. Bonus Eligible Stays will be unlimited. For each Eligible Night completed during the Promotion Period, Eligible Members will receive one (1) additional Eligible Night (“Bonus Eligible Night”) to contribute to earning the Member’s Elite Status. Bonus Eligible Nights will be capped at ten (10) nights per Eligible Stay.
All eligible earnings will be credited to the Member’s account when the standard earning is credited, usually within five (5) days after the Eligible Stay has been consumed but may take longer to post.
