We’ve seen a number of pretty good Citi offers turn up over recent days with easy savings to be made at ten IHG brands as well as with Virgin Atlantic, and now my account is showing three further offers that most readers should find relatively simple to use. They’re hardly earth-shattering in their size, but they’re worth knowing about if you’re planning on spending with Best Buy, Uber, or Hawaiian Airlines anyway.
Best Buy – Get $50 back when you spend $200 or more
This is the best offer out of the three that I’m highlighting in this post because it offers the highest statement credit, because it’s valid at a store that is generally very popular around this time of year, and because it covers the period in which we’ll see the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales (just!).

- Not valid on Best Buy gift card purchases
- Not valid at outlet locations
- Excludes Best Buy Express, Geek Squad services purchased outside of Best Buy, Best Buy parts store, Best Buy Direct, Best Buy Secondary Markets, Best Buy Private Store & Auction, and Pacific Sales Kitchen & Home locations outside of Best Buy stores.
Keep in mind that there’s no indication in the terms and conditions that multiple purchased that add up to $200 or more will trigger the credit so you would be well advised to only expect this credit to trigger if you make a single purchase of $200 or more.
This offer would work well in conjunction with the Citi® Double Cash Card (review) as no other Citi card will math the 2% cash back that the Double Cash card will earn on spending made at Best Buy.
Hawaiian Airlines – Get $20 back when you spend $200 or more
- Only valid on Hawaiian Airlines bookings (obviously!)
- Valid for spending made through 30 November 2021
- Valid in the US and US Territories
The targeted offer doesn’t actually come with any terms and conditions (other than to say that it’s only valid in the US and US Territories) so it’s highly likely that any spending made with Hawaiian Airlines will trigger the statement credit (and not just airfare spending).
$20 off $200 isn’t exactly a big saving, but if you’re planning on making a Hawaiian Airlines booking anyway, it’s a saving that’s worth having.
Having said that, however, keep in mind that you’ll need to use this offer with either the Citi Prestige® Card (no longer open to new applicants) or the Citi Premier® Card if you’re to earn a reasonable number of points alongside the rebate but neither of those cards offers any kind of delay/cancellation protections. For cheaper trips (like island hopping) this probably won’t be an issue, but for bigger (and more expensive) trips you’ll probably be better off forgoing the saving and booking with a card that offers good travel protections – card_name (review) and the card_name (review) both come to mind.
Uber – Get up to $10 back on up to 4 occasions
- Get up to 30% (up to $10) back on any trip purchased through the Uber app
- Offer may be redeemed up to 4 times per person
- Offer excludes taxes
- Valid through 30 November 2021
The math here is pretty straightforward – get 30% off up to 4 Uber rides costing no more than $33.33 through 30 November – and this is a pretty nice offer to be targeted for.
Once again, the better Citi card to use this offer with is the Citi® Double Cash Card (review) as even though cards like the Prestige and the Premier offer bonus points for select travel spending, that travel spending doesn’t cover Uber rides so those cards will only return 1 point per dollar. The Double Cash Card will return a 2% rebate.
My suggestion would be to make sure you have your targeted Citi card in your Apple Wallet and to only choose to use it to pay for Uber rides that cost enough to make the rebate worthwhile, but not so much that the points you’re giving up (by not using a card that earns a bonus for Uber spending) start to offset the savings – I’ve got an Uber ride to LAX coming up next week which will probably cost between $30 and $40 including tip so that’s going to be a great opportunity for me to use this offer.
Bottom Line
Citi is currently offering targeted cardholders savings for spending with Best Buy, Hawaiian Airlines, and Uber and while none of the offers are “amazing”, they each represent an easy way to save a little cash with little to no effort as long as you’re only spending cash that you were planning to spend anyway.
