Chase has loaded up some of my credit cards with new deals and two of them stand out as offers that could be useful for someone looking to book a stay at a Hyatt Place property or someone looking to book a more independent stay through Marriott’s Homes & Villas program.

The Hyatt offer

Right now, my World of Hyatt credit card (review) and my Ink Business Preferred® credit card (review) are offering me up to 15% back on bookings at domestic Hyatt Place properties through 25 August when I spend $100 or more (the rebate is capped at $38).

The full terms and conditions say this:

Offer expires 8/25/2022. Offer valid one time only. Complete payment for your stay must be made by 08/25/2022. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer only valid at domestic Hyatt Place properties. Offer not valid at other Hyatt hotels. Offer not valid on third-party services.

The good news here is that if I’ve been targeted for these offers it’s probably safe to assume that a lot of other Chase cardholders have been targeted for these offers as well and based on the cards that I’m seeing these offers targeted to, the discounts should be stackable with a nice points haul.

Ideally, you’ll open up your Chase online account and find the 15% offer targeted to your World of Hyatt Credit Card (which will earn you 4 WoH points/dollar for any spending you make with Hyatt) but if you have the offer targeted to any of these cards, you’ll still be doing ok:

*This card earns 3 points/dollar on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases on travel, shipping purchases, Internet, cable, and phone services, and on advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year.

Don’t forget that the rebates on this offer are capped so in order to maximize your percentage return, you only need to spend $254. Anyone who needs to spend more than that and who is seeing this offer on more than one credit card could try to split their bill between their targeted cards at check out – some properties may allow this while others may not.

The Marriott Homes & Villas offer

A couple of my Chase credit cards are currently offering me an easy-to-earn $70 rebate on any Marriott Homes & Villas bookings that I pay for and consume by the end of August.

The full terms and conditions say this:

Offer expires 8/30/2022. Offer valid one time only. Complete payment for your stay must be made by 8/30/2022. Payment must be made directly with the merchant. Offer only valid at Homes and Villas by Marriott properties. Offer not valid at other Marriott properties. Purchase must be made directly through Homes and Villas. Offer not valid on third-party services. Payment must be made on or before offer expiration date.

I’m seeing this offer targeted to my Chase Sapphire Prefered credit card (review) and my Ritz-Carlton credit card (not open to new applicants) but I’m not seeing it on any of my Ink Business Cards (YMMV).

Logic would appear to indicate that the best credit cards with which to use this offer would be the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card (review) or the Ritz-Carlton credit card which both earn cardholders 6 Bonvoy points for every dollar spent with Marriott.

In reality, however, the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card is probably the best card to use (if you hold it) as the 3 Ultimate Rewards Points/dollar that the card offers on all travel spending are worth more (to most people) than the points that the Marriott-affiliated cards offer.

Note: Marriott Homes & Villas is currently offering double points for all bookings of at least three consecutive nights made by 29 July 2022 for stays made through 31 January 2023 (link). If, however, you’re not ready to book today, don’t worry.  I’ve been told that a new double points promotion will launch for Homes & Villas bookings made between 4 and 25 August 2022 and that should stack nicely with this Chase offer.

Bottom line

Chase is targeting selected cardholders for two deals that may be of use if you’re planning to travel in the next month. The first deal is for stays made at domestic Hyatt Place properties and offers a rebate of up to $38, while the second deal is for bookings made with Marriott Homes & Villas and offers a rebate of $70.
