The original Chase Hyatt Credit Card has not been open to new applicants for a number of years (the World of Hyatt Credit Card took its place) and although existing cardholders have been able to use their card as normal since the card was withdrawn from circulation, Chase and Hyatt have now decided to retire the card for good.

On 11 January 2021 holders of the Hyatt Credit Card will be migrated to the World of Hyatt credit card and will see the following change in their benefits:

As always, there’s a cost to the improved benefits. While the legacy Hyatt credit card comes with an annual fee of $75, the World of Hyatt Credit Card costs $95 per year.

Fortunately, Chase and Hyatt have confirmed that cardholders who are migrated over to the World of Hyatt card will not be charged the new annual fee before August 2021 so, if your card anniversary falls before August 2021 your card will renew at the old rate and you will not pay the higher annual fee until 2022.

Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will get their new World of Hyatt Credit Card starting in late January.

Note: There is little point in legacy cardholders applying for the World of Hyatt credit card before the migration as they will not qualify for the welcome bonus.

Bonus promotion for legacy cardholders

As a “special thank you” for being a legacy cardholder, Chase and Hyatt are offering Hyatt credit card holders a bonus free night certificate at a Category 1-4 property if they spend $4,000 on their card by 31 December 2020.

Any legacy Hyatt cardholders interested in taking up the challenge of spending $4,000 by the end of the year to earn the bonus free night certificate should register for the promotion via this link.

Cardholders must register by 30 November 2020.

Bonus promotion for all Hyatt co-branded cardholders

Eligible Hyatt and World of Hyatt Credit Card members can now earn extra Bonus Points on everyday purchases through 31 December 2020. This includes 5 total Bonus Points for every dollar spent at Amazon.com, and 3 total Bonus Points for every dollar spent at grocery stores, on up to $1,500 in total combined purchases each month.  No registration is required for this promotion.

Bottom line

As of 11 January 2021, all legacy Hyatt Credit Card holders will be migrated over to the new World of Hyatt credit card. In addition, Chase and Hyatt are offering legacy cardholders the chance to earn a bonus Category 1-4 free night certificate and they’re offering all Chase Hyatt co-branded cardholders bonus points at Amazon.com and on grocery shopping through 31 December 2020.

    • Why are you ineligible? (what message is the registration site giving you?).

There’s nothing in the information that I’ve been given by Hyatt that suggests that this is targeted so it’s possible that the registration page isn’t working properly yet.
