Quick Thoughts

Ok, yes, this isn’t exactly a massive deal (there’s only $7.50 of cash back on offer here) but free money is free money and as the overwhelming majority of people reading this post probably have a car, why not point out that there’s a little bit of cash back available? 😇

I didn’t receive a notification about this promotion (I didn’t know about it until DoC pointed it out) but my legacy Chase Freedom Card activated the offer when I entered my details on the Chase My Bonus page…

…and a friend’s Chase Freedom Flex Card (review) triggered the offer too. Reports also appear to confirm that the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card (review) is triggering the bonus too.

It’s worth noting that while this bonus comes in addition to the quarterly bonuses that the Chase Freedom Flex Card is currently offering (Wholesale Clubs, Internet, Cable & Phone Services, and Select Streaming Services), holders of the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card appear to be only getting a total of 5% cash back on the first $150 of spending and not 6.5% as they may expect (the 5% on offer isn’t in addition to the 1.5% cash back that the Freedom Unlimited Card already offers at gas stations).

Bottom Line

Targeted holders of the Chase Freedom Flex, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and Chase Freedom Cards can not earn 5% cash back on the first $150 of spending at gas stations through 28 February. Registration is required but not all cardholders may be eligible for this offer.
