United has launched a flash mileage sale which lasts through to the end of the day on 16 September and as the sale is offering the highest bonus we generally see United publish, and as United has increased the number of miles you can buy to 225,000 (from 175,000), this may be one of the better times to top up an account if the math works for you.
Hyatt has launched a points sale which runs through the end of the month and it's offering World of Hyatt members a discount on the price they pay for points rather than offering the usual bonus points that we often see. What this means is that although the headline number (25%) doesn't look particularly impressive, the final price you pay per point isn't too bad at all.
Towards the last week of June, Alaska Airlines launched a mileage sale with an interesting twist: Buy miles with a bonus now and earn the chance to buy more miles down the line with a much bigger bonus on offer. A few weeks ago, the bigger bonus received a very nice boost from 60% to 70% (the biggest bonus we've ever seen Alaska Airlines offer) but the offer ends today so you have just hours left to participate.
Iberia is back with a new Avios sale and by most measures, this is very definitely a sale to consider if you're happy booking travel between now and mid-2021. The cost per mile is good, award availability looks healthy and with Iberia offering a few good low-surcharge award options there could be some good deals to be had here.
Towards the middle of April, Alaska's Mileage Plan program announced a sale in which it was offering targeted members the chance to buy miles with a 60% bonus. That sale saw the airline selling its miles at the cheapest rate we've seen and, three weeks after that sale ended, Alaska brought back the same offer. That deal was supposed to end yesterday but, for reasons best known to the airline, the offer has been extended through tomorrow, 30 June. It's still a targeted sale, but if you missed out last time you may have better luck this time around.
Iberia is the latest IAG airline to launch an Avios sale and it's offering travelers a bonus of up to 50% on Avios purchases made by 30 June 2020. If you're careful which Iberia website you purchase Avios from, this sale can offer an excellent opportunity to significantly reduce the cost of what may otherwise be a very expensive trip.
Etihad Guest is back with a new mileage sale and, thanks to Etihad's partnership with American Airlines and generous award pricing, it represents a very good opportunity to purchase cheap miles that can be redeemed for great value awards on American Airlines...but you have just 4 days to make the most of this deal.
