British Airways last offered a service between London and Pakistan back in 2008 and now the airline is set to return with flights to Islamabad commencing in Summer 2019.

Islamabad isn’t the only destination getting a new service from BA – the airline has just opened up bookings for a new route between London City Airport and Split on the Croatian Dalmatian coast which is set to complement the airline’s existing flights to Split out of Heathrow.

From 2 June 2019 British Airways plans to offer a 3x/week service between London Heathrow and Islamabad on the following schedule:

BA261 LHR 21:15 – 09:25+1 day ISB (Tue, Thu & Sun)
BA260 ISB 11:10 – 16:00 LHR (Mon, Wed & Fri)

The airline will operate this route using its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners which offer the following cabin configuration:

  • 35 Business Class seats
  • 25 Premium Economy seats
  • 154 Economy Class seats

So no First Class cabin on BA’s latest long-haul route but, in positive news, award availability looks good.

At the time of writing flights are on sale but the British Airways Reward Flight Finder tool still doesn’t recognise Islamabad as a destination (not a surprise to anyone who knows how staggeringly incompetent BA’s IT/Web Services teams are) but the first ransom set of dates I selected showed Premium Economy and Business Class awards available in both directions.

The headline cash fares on this route are £499 for World Traveller (Economy), £773 for World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) and £1,799 for Club World (Business Class)….although the cost of Business Class fares is considerably higher than this published price for most bookable months.

Between June and September 2019 British Airways will offer a new service between London City Airport and the city of Split on the Dalmatian Coast.

The new service is set to launch on 21 June 2019 and the currently published schedule looks like this:

BA7337 LCY 14:55 – 18:30 SPU (Mon & Thu)
BA7337 LCY 14:10 – 17:45 SPU (Fri)

BA261 SPU 19:20 – 20:55 LCY (Mon & Thu)
BA7336 SPU 18:30 – 20:05 LCY (Fri)

The airline is set to operate this route using its Embraer E-190 aircraft which offer the following cabin configuration:

  • 22 short-haul Business Class seats
  • 76 Economy Class seats

Be warned that all seats the E190s offer just 30″ of seat pitch (leg room) so even though they also offer a reasonable amount of width (18″) they’re going to feel cramped to a lot of people – if you’re tall you may be better off flying ion the A320s out of Heathrow where you may get an inch more room….which could make a difference.

British Airways says that hand baggage only fares on this route are on sale now and start at £75 each way.
