As big a fan as I am of the Air France 777-300ER Business Class cabin I have to admit that I don’t really pay too much attention to the Air France/KLM websites because, historically, I haven’t found very much use for it (outside of the times where I found a fare elsewhere and then headed over the site to get the fare ticketed).

Well, my lack of interest may have been a little foolish because I just discovered that KLM offers a very useful webpage which lists out all the current Business Class fares on offer for travel out of the United States to Europe, Africa, and India.

You’ll find Business Class fares on offer out all of the following departure cities…

a list of cities with names

…and because Air France/KLM are partners with Delta you’ll find Delta fares mixed in with the search results too.

Here’s what a typical ‘Business Class Deals‘ page looks like (this is for New York JFK):

Two deals jump out at me on that page – one to Madrid and one to Frankfurt.

The Madrid deal turns out to be a bit of a bust because, although the headline Business Class fare is shown to be just $2,020, a quick search shows the lowest fare is slightly higher ($2,033) and is only available in August.

The roundtrip Business Class fare to Frankfurt ($2,018) is considerably more promising. Drilling down into the availability calendar shows the fare is available across at least 4 separate months and the fares in a further two months aren’t bad either.

This is an example of a fare which will return Delta flights in the search results:

Don’t Take Everything At Face Value

For reasons that aren’t exactly clear, the best deals aren’t always immediately apparent.

Take the deals between Washington D.C and Europe as an example:

Nothing in that list looks particularly enticing….but then that list doesn’t show all the possible European destinations.

If you search for flights between Washington D.C. and Moscow (which doesn’t appear in the ‘deals’ list) you’ll find that the KLM site will show this as the best Business Class fare availability:

a screenshot of a computer The cheapest fare is apparently $1,838 (which I haven’t been able to find) but there’s a lot of availability in the same price range for multiple months of the year.

Here’s an example priced up on the KLM site:

This is a very good deal indeed and one that’s well worth considering if you can’t make the most of the current Citi/Flying Blue offer.

Bottom Line

I suggest bookmarking the KLM Business Class deals page to be used as a reference the next time you’re looking for a good Business Class deal across the Atlantic. To the best of my knowledge, these fares aren’t widely publicized so it’s worth returning to this page reasonably frequently to see if anything interesting had been added.
