If you’ve been struggling to find a gift for the AvGeek in your life Air France may be able to help you out. Soon, and for a limited time, you’ll be able choose to buy up to three new products that have been created from the fabric used to cover the seats in Air France’s Concorde fleet.

Air France shopping has teamed up with a French upcycling company to create what it’s calling “a new collection of responsible, sustainable and Made in France travel accessories“….and the kicker is that the products are made from recycled Concorde seats.

On sale will be….

  • A Concorde Purse for €29 (~$33)
  • A Concorde Medium Pouch for €49 (~$56)
  • A Concorde Large Pouch for €59 (~$67)

According to the airline…

“Both brands chose a sober and minimalist design to highlight the original fabric, a slightly satin textured white canvas that covered the seats of the Concorde cabins. A touch of blue echoes the edging that adorned the Concorde’s tableware.”

Annoyingly I cant find any images showing what the interiors look like so I can only assume that they’re empty and therefore only have once compartment…which I guess would fit with the name “pouch”.

If you’re not already searching the Air France shopping website in excitement you should also know that these are going to be a genuine limited range as only 150 of each item are being made – if you actually want one of these items I’d check back on the Air France Shopping website regularly to see when they become available as I suspect they’ll sell out quickly.

Personally speaking I don’t think I’ll be getting my credit card out for one of these items (I wonder if Air France shopping would trigger a travel category bonus?).

Although missing out on flying on Concorde will always be a big regret of mine I don’t feel the need to part with $33 – $67 to own a piece of cloth that someone else’s butt has probably been in close contact with….but I’m sure there will be a lot of people who feel differently 🙂
