American Express has a few good travel offers out there right now from discounts on rental cars and hotels to a great discount for anyone traveling on Delta in the next couple of months. Not all the offers appear on all my Amex Cards so, the more Amex Cards you hold the more chance you have of these offers being available to you.
Delta Airlines – Spend $1,000 Get $250 Back
This offer appeared on just one of my Amex Cards and, amazingly, it was one of the fee-free cards as well.
To my mind what makes this offer so good isn’t just that you can get a great rebate on travel but you don’t even have to spend the $1,000 all in one transaction. It’s right there in the terms of the offer:
Not only do you not have to spend the $1,000 in one transaction but you don’t even have to spend it on flights. Other purchases through Delta, like upgrade fees and Sky Club memberships will count too.
Per the T&C:
- Offer available only to eligible US Card Members for purchases made directly with Delta as the merchant of record, such as (but not limited to)
- (i) flight reservations made via delta.com, phone, or at ticket counters,
- (ii) upgrades, miles, seat selection, change fees, bag fees,
- (iii) Delta Sky Club™ membership or passes,
- (iv) pre-purchased or in-flight meal purchases,
- (v) in-flight alcoholic beverages,
- (vi) audio headsets, movies, shows and video games accessed via Delta’s seatback in-flight entertainment on Delta-operated flights, and
- (vii) Delta Vacation® packages (but not other all-inclusive packages).
The following do not count as qualifying purchases and are excluded from the offer:
- (i) in-flight wireless internet access,
- (ii) shows and movies accessed via a personal electronic device and associated services, and
- (iii) charitable contributions.
This has to be one of the better travel-related offers Amex has come out with in the past year – I just wish I flew on Delta!
Enterprise Rent-A Car $20 back when you spend $200
As with the Delta offer you don’t have to spend the $200 in one transaction – which is a bonus – but it’s worth pointing out that the offer is valid for rentals through Enterprise specifically, and not Alamo and National who are owned by the same company.
- The offer is valid for all car rentals in any location in the US or Puerto Rico
- Truck rentals, Care Share and Ride Share are excluded from the promotion
- Must reserve the car 24hrs in advance to be eligible for this promotion.
Get Cash Back Or Resort Credit At SLS
I noticed two SLS-related offers on my various Amex Cards. The first was for SLS LAs Vegas while the second was for the SLS South Beach.
SLS Las Vegas – Stay 3 Nights and get $100 resort credit.
The SLS Las Vegas has just recently joined Starwood’s Tribute Portfolio of hotels as a SPG Cat. 5 property and, with rates as low as $39 (according to their website)…..
…the $100 room credit could be a nice bonus.

Hampton By Hilton – Up To 20% Off
I stayed at my very first Hampton not too long ago (review is on its way) and I was very pleasantly surprised. In my case the Hampton wasn’t in the US so would not have qualified for this promotion but I’ve still saved this promo for future use.

There are a few other travel-related offers available on the Amex website but most have been around for a while and aren’t that interesting. If you haven’t seen these offers before then hopefully its a reminder to check AmericanExpress.com on a reasonably regular basis because you never know when something good will show up.
