The British Airways Black Friday sale will launch tomorrow at midnight (UK) time but the airline is already promoting a series of transatlantic Economy Class fares in conjunction with its partner American Airlines.

As if to show just how closely British Airways and American Airlines are now intertwined the BA press release discussing these fares actually links to an American Airlines web page (here).

The fares on offer are for departures from the UK and are for travel between now and April next year and there seem to be a few good deals floating around.

The cheapest fares on offer are the Basic Economy (hand baggage only) fares – which isn’t surprising – but there are some decent regular economy class fares on offer too.

The promotion page focuses on 6 US destinations:

  • Chicago – from £294 (~$380) roundtrip
  • Las Vegas – from £343 (~$446) roundtrip
  • Miami – from £323 (~$420) roundtrip
  • Orlando – from £328 (~$426) roundtrip
  • Los Angeles – from £338 (~$439) roundtrip
  • Philadelphia – from £590 (~767) roundtrip

The first thing to note is that the Philadelphia fare doesn’t look like much of a deal to me so I wouldn’t be in any rush to book that one….but a few others look interesting.

LA for £338/$439 is a very good deal (albeit a Basic Economy fare)…..

….and if you don’t like the idea of Basic Economy, the regular economy fare at £420 (~$546) isn’t too bad either:

You can get some good winter sun in Miami and Orlando from £323 (~$420) roundtrip and flights to Vegas from £343 (~446) are pretty good too….especially when you consider that these are all non-stop flights and you don’t have to route through Charlotte (for example).

I found examples of all of these fares on without too much trouble but if you want an easy way to see when these fares are available you should use the British Airways Low Fare Finder tool….and you may find some even cheaper fares than those being advertised:

If you can’t see any fares that work well for you or if Economy Class isn’t for you and you’re looking to fly in Premium Economy or Business Class, make sure you visit the British Airlines website after midnight tonight when the Black Friday sale may have fares that are more to your liking.
